Syklo’s Commitment to Circular Economy and Sustainability
Sustainability drives our entire value chain.
We reduce greenhouse gas emissions by cutting the use of virgin materials and developing waste-based alternatives. We redirect waste into new, higher-value materials and products, and especially increase the recycling rate of plastics.
Syklo is an equal and diverse organisation. We create meaningful work for people who want to build a more sustainable future, with determination and with results.

AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE GREEN TRANSITION
We dare to be first. Syklo is a Finnish circular economy company turning post-consumer plastic waste and recycled cellulose fibre into high-quality, traceable materials: Sykloplast PCR pellets and Syklocomp biocomposite.
We support our partners in navigating tightening regulatory requirements and help them achieve their sustainability targets without compromising on performance or profitability.
A key investment is Finland’s largest plastics recycling plant, opening in Hyvinkää in 2026, alongside our biocomposite facility. Together, they form a complete circular economy ecosystem for the plastics industry.
MEETING EU REGULATIONS
EU regulations are creating structural demand for recycled content. Syklo’s materials help our partners meet these requirements:
EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
35% recycled plastic content required by 2030.
Current EU average: 9.7%.
Sykloplast PCR pellets provide verified recycled content for applications in the packaging and plastic products industry
End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELVR)
25% recycled content in automotive plastics required by 2030.
Current automotive average: 3.2%.
Syklocomp and Sykloplast support automotive suppliers in meeting recycled content targets.
Ecodesign Regulation
Increasing requirements for product recyclability and recycled content across product categories.
Syklocomp is recyclable up to 7 times without loss of properties.
With us, neither results nor responsibility are compromised.
WE PROMOTE ETHICAL AND SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES IN OUR SUPPLY CHAIN
We work closely with our suppliers to further develop the sustainability of our entire supply chain.
We require all of our partners to commit to the ethical guidelines for suppliers set by our owner, Oulun Energia.
EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING
We want to be a workplace where both the work and the people doing it thrive. We allow everyone to be themselves and harness their expertise and passion for concrete action.
We challenge ourselves and our partners to embrace open cooperation across organisational boundaries. Our operations are characterised by curiosity and the desire to do tangible, meaningful work.
SAFE WORKPLACE
We want to guarantee our employees and contractors safe working days all the time. We continuously develop our safety culture with updated tools and processes, and we prioritise safety at all our locations.
In our operations, we take into account the occupational safety also for our contractors.
