Ecoaims Boosts Product Durability and Reduces Carbon Footprint with Syklo Biocomposite
When sustainability and performance go hand in hand, better products are born. Ecoaims, a Finnish pioneer in electronic shooting systems, found a solution in Syklo’s biocomposite that improves the enhances product durability while simultaneously reducing its carbon footprint.
Material That Lasts and Feels Right
Ecoaims is a Finnish family-owned company specialised in safe, projectile-free electronic shooting systems. Since 2023, the company has used Syklo’s biocomposite in its products.
“We were looking for more sustainable alternatives to some of the materials we used before. We also wanted the new material to be mechanically stronger than the previous solution,” says Petri Matikainen, CEO of Ecoaims.
The solution was found in Syklo’s wood-fibre-reinforced biocomposite, which is now used in the handles of Ecoaims’ laser guns. The material change has had clear and positive effects on the product quality and customer satisfaction.
“We have been able to significantly improve the durability of our products. The mechanical strength of the components is better, which can be seen in practice: the parts withstand intensive use and are less likely to break than before,” Matikainen says.
In real-life use, the devices may be exposed to impacts, drops, and varying conditions. A more durable material helps ensure that the parts retain their shape and functionality even in such situations.
“Thanks to Syklo’s materials, we have seen a clear decrease in warranty claims,” Matikainen notes.
At the same time, the biocomposite gives the product its own distinct look and feel.
“The wood-fibre composite is a key part of the product’s overall look,” Matikainen adds.
Sustainability as the Cornerstone of Collaboration
In addition to mechanical performance, environmental friendliness guided the material choice. The carbon footprint of Syklo’s biocomposites is significantly lower than that of traditional solutions, which aligns with Ecoaims’ own values.
“We work with environmentally friendly products ourselves, so Syklo is a perfect match for us. Sustainability is just as important to us as performance,” Matikainen emphasises.
The practical collaboration has also received praise for its smoothness.
“Syklo’s products meet our requirements perfectly. Furthermore, the collaboration has worked excellently all the way from the design phase to manufacturing. Communication has been smooth, and we have received support throughout the whole process. We are very satisfied with the partnership, Matikainen concludes.
