Syklo’s New Maintenance Manager Assembles Team for Hyvinkää Circular Economy Plants

Simo Vihavainen joined Syklo as Maintenance Manager in late August, bringing with him over 30 years of experience across a wide range of industrial sectors. Having worked at more than a dozen plants throughout his career, he understands the critical role of maintenance in ensuring safe, high-quality and cost-efficient operations.

Simo Vihavainen will lead the maintenance team at Syklo’s new circular economy plants under construction in Hyvinkää.

“One of my strengths for sure is that I’ve seen a lot of different people, production processes, machines, materials, and have been involved in installing new plants and commissioning them from scratch.”

Extensive experience across industries

Based in Lahti, Vihavainen brings some 30 years of process and production industry expertise. His background spans glass wool manufacturing, fibreboard production, maintenance in the food industry, aluminium can production, and industrial enzyme production. He also has circular economy experience, having worked on maintenance at Lassila & Tikanoja’s facilities.

“Years have taught me that the more I think I know, the more there is always to learn. That’s the spice of this job,” Simo reflects.

Building collaboration at the heart of circular economy

One of Simo’s first responsibilities will be to assemble the new maintenance team at Hyvinkää. Recruitment will heat up soon.

“With the installation of equipment in such large, modern plants there’s work for a sizeable workforce even before full production starts. It’s exciting to begin something entirely new at Syklo, working with the latest technological solutions in a circular economy environment.”

In addition to leading the maintenance team, Simo aims to build strong cooperation with the production teams.

“I hope everyone feels part of the same working community — without divisions between departments. That’s where working is most rewarding, and it only happens by doing things together.”

Welcome to the team, Simo!
