Waste reception and treatment
We accept waste shipments from corporate customers and municipal waste management companies. The waste we accept is mainly construction and demolition waste, as well as commercial and industrial waste.
We accept construction waste from corporate clients at two different branches: The Hyvinkää circular economy hub and the Oulu waste sorting plant. Both aim to achieve the highest recycling and recovery rate possible. This means that we aim to separate each construction material from the waste load and recover as high as a percentage of it as possible.
HYVINKÄÄ CIRCULAR ECONOMY HUB
Syklo’s circular economy hub in Hyvinkää processes waste and refines recycling materials together with local partners. The circular economy hub is located along key transport routes.
In 2025, we will open Finland’s largest plastic recycling plant at the hub.

OULU WASTE SORTING PLANT
The waste treatment process at our sorting plant in Rusko, Oulu, separates high-quality fractions to be used as secondary raw materials from construction and demolition waste and commercial, industrial, and combustible waste.
The separated materials of consistent grades continue their journey to their next destinations, including reuse and as a raw material for industry. Syklo’s partners are responsible for the reuse of materials is managed by Syklon’s partners.

Constructional and demolition waste
Handling construction and demolition waste in accordance with circular economy principles is an important aspect of sustainable development. Construction and demolition waste mainly consists of concrete, bricks, metal, wood, and gypsum board. Recycling and reusing these materials reduce the need for virgin raw materials and minimise environmental impacts.
Commercial and industrial waste
Commercial and industrial waste often contains metals, plastics, and wood, which can be recycled and used in the production of new products.
Individual waste fractions
We receive and process individual waste fractions such as large plastic pipes, agricultural plastics, film plastics, bitumen, plaster board, cardboard and flat glass
Recovery of recyclable and demolition wood
We recover Grade A, B, and C recycled wood by making it into wood chips for Oulun Energia’s power plant for energy use. Fuel made from wood chips replaces fossil and virgin fuels. We also accept recycled wood from customer collection points. We arrange crushing, transportation, sampling, and quality inspections.
Separation and recovery of plastics
Plastics of various grades are separated from the waste stream using advanced identification technology. Plastic grades suitable for re-use continue their journey through our partners for further processing, and the non-recyclable remainder is made into Solid Recovered Fuel. We also accept plastic pipes and agricultural stretch films.
