Syklo Selected for Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator – Material Solutions Move into Global-Scale Evaluation

Finnish circular economy company Syklo Group has been selected for the 2026 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator, standing out from hundreds of applicants. The selection reflects long-term work in developing circular materials and brings Syklo’s solutions into evaluation for potential use in Amazon devices and their manufacturing.

The programme focuses on reducing the carbon footprint of components used in Amazon’s consumer electronics. Syklo’s solutions are directly linked to raw material choices and to the materials used to manufacture products at an industrial scale.

Amazon Devices and Plug and Play will carry out integration assessments with the selected companies. The results will be reviewed by the leadership of the Amazon Devices business.

“In practice, this means our materials are being tested for Amazon devices against the same criteria as production materials. The evaluation looks at process performance, mechanical properties and reliable supply at industrial scale. It’s a unique opportunity to show that our solutions hold up at the highest level,” says Markku Nikkilä, Head of Business at Syklo Oy.

Syklo develops circular materials for the plastics industry, with a focus on applications that require consistent quality and industrial-scale performance. Its solutions are used in sectors such as electronics and automotive, where material choices have a direct impact on product performance and environmental footprint.

Syklo’s main product, the Syklocomp biocomposite, is based on a patented wet-web technology and acts as a fibre-based reinforcement that can replace materials such as glass fibre, talc and engineering plastics. The material is delivered in masterbatch form and can be used in existing plastics processing systems.

Syklocomp enables the use of recycled fibres and recycled plastics, increasing the share of recycled content in end products, reducing the carbon footprint and maintaining mechanical performance even in demanding applications. The recycled plastic used in Syklocomp is produced at Syklo’s own plastics recycling facility, where Sykloplast recycled plastic pellets are manufactured.

The evaluation within the Amazon Devices Accelerator programme will focus on whether the materials meet the technical requirements of the device industry and perform reliably in production. Syklo’s goal is to see their materials used in Amazon Devices products to reduce their carbon impact.

Last year, Syklo announced a €70–80 million investment into Finland’s largest plastics recycling facility and an industrial-scale biocomposite plant. Biocomposite production has already started on a smaller line, with the industrial production line scheduled to launch in August 2026. Commissioning of the plastics recycling facility begins in June 2026.
